Gallery Assistant

We’re recruiting for a part-time gallery assistant for our Brighton gallery.

Having opened our new space earlier this year we’ve been going through an exciting time and are in need of another pair of hands to help us keep on top of things.

We run a regular program of exhibitions with some of the most exciting, dynamic, unconventional and innovative artists, illustrators and designers both from the UK and overseas. The new gallery assistant will play an integral role in ensuring the continued success of our exhibition program, which so far this year has included shows with Megamunden, Hattie Stewart, Hayden Kays, Billy, Ben Frost and Supermundane... with some amazing shows on the way.

The new gallery assistant will assist with setting up and taking down exhibitions and preparing the gallery between shows. You’ll be involved in all aspects of running the gallery from packaging online orders for delivery to assisting with PR, marketing and admin, dealing with customers both face to face, over the phone and on email to promoting the Arts Council’s Own Art scheme to customers and completing Own Art applications.

Experience working in a gallery environment isn’t a prerequisite but the right attitude and a love of art is. You’ll need to be reliable, confident dealing with customers, self-motivated and able to work using your own initiative.

The position is part-time and will involve working weekends.
