about

No Walls is an independent gallery based in Brighton, UK, founded by James Woodward.

Working with some of the most exciting young artists, illustrators and designers in the world, we have established a reputation for pushing the boundaries of contemporary art and championing rising talent.

Wonderland Magazine described us as "a space that encourages cutting edge talent and fosters up-and-comers" and this neatly sums us up. We've given artists their first show, introduced artists to the UK for the first time and always stayed a step ahead in working with artists before everyone else jumps on the bandwagon.

No Walls began life as a temporary pop up in London in 2008 with Ben Frost's first UK show 'Crapitalism'. In 2010, we opened the doors to our first permanent gallery in Brighton, before moving to our new home at 114 Church Street in 2013. We've since hosted solo shows with Megamunden, Hattie Stewart, Ben Frost, Lucy Sparrow, Hayden Kays, Mr Penfold, Supermundane, Billy and Jim McElvaney, in the process growing into one of the UK’s most exciting independent galleries.

After five years of being a permanent fixture in Brighton, we have returned to our roots as a pop up gallery and No Walls is now run as a more relaxed, part-time affair. As such, we're not always in residence at 114 Church Street so please check what's on before visiting.

Over recent months, we have made 114 Church Street available for others to use and it has fast become Brighton's main pop up retail, exhibition and event space. Artists, designers, makers, creatives, retailers and brands, or anyone with an idea, can now hire the space on a flexible basis with a minimum booking of just one week. If you would like to use the space for your own pop up or exhibition, visit the 114 Church Street site or contact us for more details.
