Michael Mykola Haletas collages take dissected Marvel comic book pages and paste them back together, forming intense abstract fields, primary forms; what can be described as discrete Marvel-masses. Through their articulation of space and form and their own paper materiality, they work their way into a visual language, creating a feeling of weight and atmosphere, achieving their own delicate authority and command. Haleta was born in Princeton, NJ. An intermedia artist, hes been constructing his comic collages for the past decade as part of an ongoing series, entitled "Futuristic Textures from the Future". His work has been published in Tokion, Shout NY, Editions RSE and Giant Robot. |
